“I used my first Sidi shoes in 1998 when I started cycling. Since then I haven’t stopped riding… with Sidi, of course! Cycling has always been my greatest passion. I’m proud of myself because with determination, tenacity, and commitment I’ve managed to transform this passion into my job! Bicycles are my life; it’s like a dream come true. Working by doing what you love is a luxury that not everyone can afford, I feel very lucky and I am grateful.”
Despite her 21 years, Elena Cecchini has clear goals and is already one of the most promising athletes in the group. Elena has stood out on several occasions, even wearing the blue jersey for the Italian National Team, both on road and on track. The track has brought plenty of success to the blue athlete, like victory in the classification for the 2012 World Cup in the point race.
“Since I started pedalling, year after year Sidi has always supported my growth as an athlete, offering me comfort and safety. For cyclists, especially at the highest levels, the shoe is one of the most essential elements. If your feet aren’t comfortable and in the right place, your balance on the bike could be compromised and effect performance. And then, I love my Sidis! Not only are they comfortable and performing, they are also beautiful and attractive in their design and graphics…it’s true, we are cyclists and perhaps a bit tomboy, but we’re still girls at heart and we like to be in fashion even when we’re on our bikes, you’ve got to stay in style !!!”
“This year I started using Sidi Wire shoes, the number 1 in the Sidi Sport collection for road cycling; for me they’re perfectly comfortable and lightweight. I couldn’t ask for anything better! Thank you Sidi, for seriously and professionally supporting my team, Estado de Mexico, and for always offering us the best quality year in and year out,” continues Elena, who also happens to be linked to of one of the most outstanding athletes from the Sidi Sport stables, Elia Viviani, the sprinter from the Cannondale Pro Cycling juggernaut that has recently been making headlines on the roads of the Giro d’Italia.
In late April 2014 Elena Cecchini gave her team its first victory when she won the Winston-Salem Criterium, on the roads of Nord Carolina in the USA. “The victory in the States was an awesome thrill. Now my dreams for the imminent future are to continue having the best season, go to the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and try to win a World Championship jersey…that’s all; not bad, wouldn’t you say? …and I’m sure that Sidi will help me make those dreams come true !!!”
